| i got the new copeland cd in the mail last friday. one word: amazing. i think that you should all check it out.
we were able to wear jeans to class today for a donation of $2 toward tsunami relief. in the cafeteria i heard kids talking about how they wore khakis to chapel so they didn't have to pay the $2 and then changed into jeans for class. it boggles my mind how selfish and stupid that is. to most people in america, donating $2 is like sneezing--no one really cares. but people around the world need that money. need. americans are so selfish sometimes, myself included.
| Last night between 8:30 and 9:30, we passed 42 refrigerated trucks on I-70. When I say passed, I mean that they could have been going east or west. Since refrigerated trucks make up only 6% of America's truck fleet, by a simple mathematical equation I figure we probably passed around 700 trucks in that hour.
Other than that, I'm back at Cedarville.....wishing I was still in Lancaster. Peace out.
| ugh. busy week. exams on monday, wednesday, and friday. project worth 60% of my class grade due on friday. reading for old testament. accounting quiz tomorrow. stat homework due thursday. YIKES! even though that sounds bad, i'm not really that worried about it all. it's just a matter of managing my time, and i know i can be serious (for real, guys) when i need to be. it's just......spring break is on friday. and i don't WANT to be. hahahahaha. oh the life of me.
on a totally unrelated note, john piper spoke in chapel on monday. he was a very good speaker even though he had sort of a distant, not-quite-personable presence on stage. it's kinda hard to explain, but somehow because he didn't seem all jovial i was actually more attracted to him as a speaker. plus, it allowed me to concentrate more on the message. and the message was such a challenge: the only purpose that humans have on earth is to bring glory to our awesome God. and the best way for us to learn to be Christ-centered is to look at Christ, because He was the most Christ-centered individual in history. yet His Christ-centeredness (self-centeredness in essence) was not sinful pride, but it was in fact the only way for Him to love us. i know that sounds confusing. but the reason probably is because i am explaining it and not john piper. i would encourage everyone to check out the message here. trust me, it will be worth your time.....

| just got back from sonshine club. i love those lil kids. i really do. it's been a joy to get to know them this year, and to see them grow....even if it was just a little. some of them come from amazingly hard home situations, and it just breaks my heart to see and hear some of the pain that they go through. it makes me thankful, because but for the grace of God that could be me. at the same time, it's amazing what a little love can do. even in just one hour a week, to be able to watch the joy on these kids faces when they see you....it's priceless. to be able to watch them put aside those problems and just have fun being a kid makes it well worth the little sacrifice that it requires from me. i just wish i could give them more..... | | |
